With Amir Albazi not medically cleared to compete, it was Road to UFC 2 winner Hyun Sung Park stepping in against Tatsuro Taira in the UFC Vegas 108 main event.

Park was a perfect 10-0 to start his career, while Taira was coming off his first loss as a pro, and looking to bounce back. That setback had come against a flyweight title challenger in Brandon Royval.

Taira wasted no time getting down to business, hurting Park early then getting on top. Park clamped down on a leg as Taira looked to pull through to mount; for the time being, South Korea’s Park was able to keep Taira from improving his position. Park would get up, but Taira climbed him, hanging on like a backpack then using his weight to pull him down. Not fully on the back, Taira was still in control. Park survived the round, but Taira took it.

Round two opened with another Taira takedown, almost immediately. Just as quickly, Taira had a body triangle in place. In control of the back, Taira went hunting for the rear-naked choke, and it wasn’t long at all before he had it (actually a face crank). Park had to tap, and just like that, Japan’s Tatsuro Taira was back in the win column.

Official Result: Tatsuro Taira def. Hyun Sung Park by submission (face crank), Round 2, 1:06
