Carlos Prates Down For UFC Rio Scrap With MVP

A knockout of the year contender wasn’t enough for UFC welterweight Carlos Prates following his highlight-reel finish of Geoff Neal at UFC 319 on Saturday night.
Prates (22-7) landed a nasty spinning elbow on Neal that put the veteran welterweight out on the canvas. Then he grabbed the mic and called his shot for a bonus, and a fight at UFC Rio in October. UFC CEO Dana White reportedly agreed to both right then and there.
So who would be up for a scrap in Brazil against Prates? Maybe fellow welterweight Michael ‘Venom’ Page.
“Bro anybody who step on the cage on Rio 11 October I will be there,” Prates told reporters including Cageside Press at his post-fight scrum.
“The first option of course Leon (Edwards). I’m here to fight against the best guys in the world. Then I can prove I’m the best in the world. Anybody who step in the cage I will be there.”
Prates seemed very intrigued by the idea of a matchup with MVP given the different styles they both posses. The Brazilian seemed giddy about the proposed fight.
“It’s gonna be good. It’s gonna be really interesting fight. He inspired me for a long time. If UFC give me him, that’s ok, let’s fight,” he said.
“I really enjoy to fight last time five rounds. Let’s see. I going to celebrate a little bit, and then I’m going back in the gym two weeks. I’m going to think about five rounds or three.”
