Latest transfer news: Chelsea eye €40m bid for Real Madrid striker

The summer transfer window is officially open with clubs now able to add new signings to their squad. The biggest clubs in European football and clubs across the continent are already making plans for next season. Teams are working tirelessly behind the scenes on identifying targets and figuring out their budgets.

Managers will be constantly assessing their squads with sporting directors and recruitment staff scanning the market for potential deals. A plethora of players will become available in the summer where clubs famously have more money to spend and aren’t as restricted by financial fair play rules. Fenerbahce have reportedly made a €15 million offer to PSG for Marco Asensio. The 29-year-old impressed on-loan at Aston Villa during the second half of last season and AC Milan and Villareal are also interested. 

Nico Williams has rejected interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich to pen a new contract at Athletic Club until 2035. It was widely expected that the Spanish international would leave Bilbao this summer but he’s staying – you can read more here. 

Chelsea are willing to pay €40m for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Garcia, according to reports in Spain. The 21-year-old has only made five LaLiga games but he’s impressed at the Club World Cup.
