UFC middleweights Nick Klein and Andrey Pulyaev battled at UFC Vegas 108 hoping to make some headway with the title being contested just a couple weeks after their fight.

Klein (6-2) dropped his UFC debut against Mansur Abdul-Malik in February. The Contender Series alum looked for his first promotional victory on Saturday night.

Pulyaev (9-3) is in the same boat as Klein. Following a win on Contender Series he lost his UFC debut to Christian Leroy Duncan. Nothing to sneeze at, but he’s definitely in need of a victory at UFC Vegas 108.

Round 1

Klein came out like a bat out of hell with two kicks up top and then a quick takedown. Pulyaev was able to get back to his feet, but Klein got another takedown and landed a flurry of right hands and forced Pulyaev to give up the back.

Klein took the back and threatened a neck crank, but made a mistake and Pulyaev scrambled to his feet. Klein got him to the fence as Pulyaev couldn’t find a way to get Klein off him.

Pulyaev finally found a way off the fence and away from Klein. He landed some big shots including a big left hand, but Klein was back in on a takedown. Unable to get it they fought on the feet until Klein got one more takedown at the end of the round.

Round 2

A lot more patience shown here from Klein as he traded kicks with Pulyaev to start the round. It didn’t take long for Klein to shoot however, and managed to get Pulyaev back down.

Pulyaev got back to his feet and went off landing big shots on Klein and getting the finish. Hell of a come back for Pulyaev.

Official Result: Andrey Pulyaev def. Nick Klein via R2 TKO, 1:31
